PELICAN POINT EDUCATION CENTRE

ENGIE, in conjunction with Mobile Science Education, offers guided educational tours of Pelican Point power station.

Each year approximately 2,500 students visit the station to find out more about the process of generating electricity. All tours are free and are tailored to the age of the students attending. The class visits are conducted by a member of Mobile Science Education and involve activities at the education centre and a tour of the power station.

Hands on electricity related activities - Try the activities at the education centre to explore electricity in use.

Further Information:
  • All tours must be booked through Mobile Science Education.
  • Maximum of 30 students per tour.
  • Tours are run on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (contact Mobile Science Education for times). Other times can be arranged to suit.
  • Each tour takes approximately 1.5 hours.
  • Tours are run to suit the age of the students or the purpose of the group
  • Local community groups are also welcome to visit the centre

LOY YANG B EDUCATION CENTRE

Mobile Science Education is conducting education sessions at Loy Yang B power station during the second half of 2014. The free sessions are age appropriate and open to school students from grades five to year 12, and TAFE and university students.

The sessions will provide:
  • An interactive presentation on the big picture and the background science of a power station
  • Hands-on activities where appropriate
  • A tour of the plant and a closer look at the technology designed to minimise its environmental impact
  • A visit to the control room and the opportunity to talk with plant operators (subject to availability)
  • Information about careers within the industry.

Bookings are being taken for the following dates:
  • Tuesday 10 June - Friday 13 June
  • Monday 25 August - Friday 29 August
  • Monday 13 October - Friday 17 October
  • Monday 10 November - Friday 14 November
  • Please note, tours can take up to two hours and must fit within either 8:30am-12:30pm (morning session) or 1:00pm - 4:30pm (afternoon session).

Further Information:
  • All tours must be booked through Mobile Science Education.
  • Maximum of 30 people - including accompanying staff - per tour.
  • All visitors must wear enclosed shoes, full length sleeves and full length pants/skirt. High visibility vests, protective eyewear and hard hats will be handed out on arrival.
