GDF SUEZ Hazelwood Pondage Blue Green Algae levels update 07032013

Hazelwood Pondage remains closed following the detection of Blue Green Algae (BGA) two weeks ago.

Water testing conducted by GDF SUEZ Hazelwood this week has shown the level of algal growth continues to make the waters unsuitable for recreational use.

Warning signs remain in place at all public access points advising people to stop using the waterway until further notice. Users of the facility should seek to utilise alternative waterways in the region for activities such as swimming, skiing and windsurfing.

GDF SUEZ Hazelwood will continue its water-sampling program to monitor any changes in the BGA situation. Further inquiries can be directed to GDF SUEZ Hazelwood Stakeholder Relations on 5135 5000.
