ENGIE AXIMA strengthens South Australian presence with local Adelaide office

South Australian Premier Steven Marshall today joined industry and Defence personnel and ENGIE Axima officials in Salisbury North to open the production and testing facility of Noske Kaeser Marine Australia (‘NKMA’) becoming ENGIE Axima.

The facility manufactures critical equipment for the HVAC, Refrigeration and Firefighting systems of the Arufa-class offshore patrol vessels for the Royal Australian Navy (SEA1180). For ENGIE Axima, the investment in Adelaide strengthens its industrial footprint and involvement in the Australian Defence Technological and Industrial Base.

Based in France, ENGIE Axima is a worldwide specialist and supplier of turnkey solutions in HVAC, refrigeration and firefighting. Globally recognised for quality products and engineering services, ENGIE Axima’s marine technology division employs 360 people in 12 countries worldwide.

“ENGIE Axima’s investment in an Adelaide production and testing facility marks our commitment to becoming a trusted and long-term participant in Australia’s current and future naval programs. It was obvious from the start to set up in Adelaide given its growing Marine industrial environment and the support of South Australian Authorities,” said Guillaume Weisrock, ENGIE Axima’s VP International Business Development.

“This facility refocuses our business operations from predominantly service and support back to our roots in Australia, which began with our involvement in the ANZAC frigate program in 1992,” added David Owen, General Manager, NKMA.

The facility has over the past 12 months embarked on a campaign to recruit local talent and this will continue to reach required capacity, given the forecast workload. ENGIE Axima is committed to recruiting and training university graduates in marine engineering disciplines along with local apprentices.

The NKMA investment includes the design and installation of an in-house test facility ready for full equipment factory performance testing and practical hands-on training opportunities for local employees.

It is in line with the company’s strategy to contribute to the development of Australian Industrial Capability and Australian sovereignty for current and future Defence programs.
