Social procurement program
Our social procurement strategy is to engage local suppliers and social enterprises focusing on disadvantaged young people, people with disabilities and Indigenous suppliers.
Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan
Reconciliation Australia has approved ENGIE Australia & New Zealand’s second Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan.
The Innovate RAP is the second in the RAP Framework and is more ambitious in scope with a focus on employment, enhanced engagement across our projects, and piloting some new opportunities related to supply chain and involving our team members.
Since developing our first RAP in 2021, ENGIE has made significant progress.
This has included:
- Proactively providing opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander suppliers through our procurement strategy and process.
- Development of relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups at several of our development sites.
- Demonstrating respect through the display of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags and artwork at many of our sites.

We care about future generations and support many inspiring initiatives that help young people and impact community resilience, education and the environment.
Free Nutritious Meals
FareShare rescues food that would otherwise go to waste and creates free, nutritious meals for people in need. ENGIE supports FareShare to deliver more than 90,000 meals annually across the Latrobe Valley and the greater Gippsland region. This project reduces greenhouse pollution by minimising food waste in landfills.
Keeping kids in school
The Smith Family’s Learning for Life program empowers disadvantaged children with better futures through education. ENGIE supports 90 student scholarships across schools in or near our projects and assets. We also welcome students to participate in the Cadetship to Career program.
Transforming young lives
Operation Flinders takes young people aged 14 to 18 out of their everyday environment to build their confidence and skills through positive experience and achievement. We support Outback Adventure Programs that run in the far northern Flinders Ranges for at-risk young people, accommodating 100 participants who trek more than 100 km over eight days.
Activities that fuel the future
We are a long-time partner of the Mirabel Foundation – an Australian charity that helps children who have been orphaned or abandoned due to their parents’ illicit drug use. As well as supporting community-based education and early intervention programs, our support gives children hope, belonging and connection through family camps and recreation programs.
Chipping in for kids
Very Special Kids cares for children with life-limiting conditions and annually supports over 850 families across Victoria. Our annual Charity Golf Day helps raise funds for Very Special Kids' courageous cause and has been running since 2016.
A helping hand
Cottage by the Sea delivers children’s programs that help impact positive change in young people’s lives. Over the years, we’ve taken part in working bees, helping improve facilities for young people in need.
The CEO sleepout
As a child, our CEO, Shannon Hyde, faced the risk of homelessness. Now each year, supported by ENGIE’s people, Shannon and ENGIE CEO Rik De Buyserie take part in Vinnies CEO Sleepout. Funds raised from this initiative help support Australians experiencing or at risk of homelessness, from feeding a family to keeping the power on over winter.
