- provides at least 3 hours of free electricity, during the middle of the day.
- eligibility is limited to residential households with smart meters
- is subject to a 24kWh daily Fair Use Cap during the free usage period
- a regulated pricing structure applies outside the free usage period.
What is the daily Fair Use Cap?
The Fair Use Cap is a limit applied to the amount of free electricity a customer can use during the free electricity usage period provided in the Victorian Midday Power Saver Offer. This cap is intended to align the free usage period with typical household energy needs.
If your electricity usage during the Victorian Midday Power Saver Offer free usage period stays within the Fair Use Cap, there will be no cost to you for your electricity usage during the free usage period. If your usage exceeds the cap, any electricity used above the cap during the free usage period will be charged at regulated rates. The cap is applied using data from your smart meter, which records your electricity usage throughout the day. This allows usage during the free usage period to be measured accurately for billing purposes.
