ENGIE opens community hub in Hay

(Hay, Australia - 15 September 2023) ENGIE has opened a new community information centre for The Plains Renewable Energy Park, a proposed project near Hay.

Managing Director of Renewables for ENGIE Australia and South East Asia, Thierry Kalfon said The Plains Renewable Energy Park was a newly proposed large-scale development that aims to harness wind and solar energy to provide affordable, reliable and clean electricity for homes and businesses in NSW.

The renewable energy park which is one of the largest renewables projects in ENGIE’s Australian development pipeline, will include the construction of an integrated wind and solar farm and will operate alongside agricultural activities.

“This is a great project in a perfect location and we’re looking forward to the opportunity of building it, creating more economic activity for the region and to ENGIE becoming a part of your community,” he said.

“We’re proud to be utilising our expertise in building and operating renewable energy assets, decarbonisation strategies and EV infrastructure to meet growing demand for efficient, green energy.”

ENGIE Australia’s Head of Stakeholder Relations, Jacqui Niemand encouraged locals to visit the hub.

“We understand the importance of engaging with locals and those living closest to our projects. That’s why we have opened the community information hub in the main street of Hay,” says Mrs Niemand.

“It is a central resource where people can drop in and access up-to-date project information, resources, opportunities, and events. As part of the launch, we also unveiled a new project website and interactive map, which allows visitors to access detailed information and explore the project in an engaging and immersive way.

“We very much welcome community members dropping into the hub to find out more and share their thoughts and feedback on the project.”

The hub will be open one day per week and will be staffed by a locally-employed assistant, supported by ENGIE Australia’s development team. For more information about the project, please visit engie.com.au/theplains.
