How does the trial work?
ENGIE will adjust the amount of energy you export, to ensure stability of the grid. You’ll be helping us prevent the grid from getting overloaded, which benefits you and the rest of South Australia.

What is the ENGIE Solar Advantage Trial?
The ENGIE Solar Advantage Trial aims to test whether having a retailer control your energy exports from your Solar PV System in return for a means of compensation, could be a feasible future product.
As a customer that has selected the flexible exports option when connecting your solar PV system to the local electricity network, you will know that as a participant in the Trial, SA Power Networks (SAPN) has the ability to vary how much your solar PV system can export back to the network This feature helps maintain the stability of the grid. Furthermore, the Trial provides insights into your energy usage and the extent to which your energy exports have been controlled.
How do I know if I am eligible?
You may be eligible for the Trial if you:
Live in South Australia within one of the eligible suburbs. See here for eligibility information.
Have a compatible inverter connected to the Internet installed after 1st July 2023.
Have opted for a Flexible Export Limit when connecting your new Solar PV system – if you've opted for or have been allocated a fixed export limit, this Trial is not open to you.
You do not have an energy storage system connected to your solar PV system.

What are the main benefits of joining the trial?
By participating, you’ll receive:
$100 next bill credit when you sign up.
Monthly bill credits up to $120 over the 12 months of the Trial
A $50 credit for completing the survey and completing the full term of the Trial.
What should I do if I want to opt-in?
If you want to express your interest to be part of this Trial, you can sign up in the above form. If you add your contact details, you give consent to be called by our installer or by our sales agents.
How do Flexible Exports work?
The Flexible Exports option uses an internet-connected inverter that lets you export up to 10kW of solar power back to the grid. ENGIE will adjust the amount of energy you export, to ensure stability of the grid+. So, you’ll be helping us prevent the grid from getting overloaded, which benefits you and the rest of South Australia. The best part? We pay you for the service you are providing to the grid so you will always be better off than if you were exporting normally and receiving your feed-in tariff.

How do I opt out of the trial?
You can opt-out at any time by giving us at least 20 business days’ notice before your next billing cycle date. There are no exit fees payable. Simply contact our customer service team via phone 1800 290 773 (Mon-Fri, 8am – 7pm AEST/ AEDT).
Our dedicated team will help you with the process, and please note that any remaining credits or incentives may be forfeited if you opt out.
What can I expect during the trial?
Bill Credits: You can earn up to $270 in credits, including a sign-up bonus and monthly credits.
QMR, a market research firm commissioned by SAPN, will contact you throughout your Trial for your feedback.
A credit for completing the survey and completing the full term of the Trial.
Energy Monitoring: You’ll receive updates on your solar energy usage and how much you're exporting to the grid.
Flexible Exports: your solar export limits will change dynamically. Typically, this will be between 10am and 3pm. You are not required to do anything for this, we will manage the exports for you.
Will my FiT be impacted?
While the actual FiT won't change – the Flexible Export Limit may at times restrict the amount of electricity your solar system can export to the grid.
