Future Host Community Rebates

Future Host Community Rebates

If you live near one of ENGIE’s future renewable energy assets in Australia, you may be eligible for an electricity rebate from ENGIE as part of a program to provide direct power bill relief for renewable energy host communities.

Up to $1000 in annual electricity rebates will be available through ENGIE’s integrated retail business and applied to local households' and small business’ electricity bills for the operating life of the neighbouring asset.

ENGIE is committed to accelerating the transition to net zero and supporting the communities where our projects are located. This is one way to ensure our projects can have a positive impact on the local community.

The rebate will come into effect from the date the asset starts generating electricity.

FAQ

What are the eligibility criteria?

  • Your house or small business needs to fall within a prescribed proximity to ENGIE’s operating renewable assets.
  • You must be on an eligible ENGIE electricity plan and remain on that plan.
  • ENGIE must continue to retail electricity in the eligible area.
  • The total number of offers available in each location may be capped depending on uptake

How do I apply?

  • We will contact you if your house or small business falls within the rebate zone. There is no need to contact us.
  • You will need to be living/operating your small business at the address and provide proof of address via a supporting ID document, such as a current bill, mortgage or rental documentation or official ID stating your address.
  • If you move away from the eligible zone the rebate will be terminated.

When will the rebate come into effect?

If you are eligible for the rebate, the rebate will be payable from the date of project commission, in other words, when the asset starts generating electricity, not when construction of the asset starts.

Do I need to be a new customer?

No, however you need to have an eligible ENGIE electricity plan or switch to an eligible plan.

What if I am already a customer?

No worries, existing customers can still be eligible. You’ll just need to ensure you meet the eligibility criteria.

How long is the life span of a renewable asset?

This is dependent on each individual asset.

Does this apply to ENGIE assets already in operation?

No – this rebate only applies to future wind and solar projects.

Are there any additional community benefits on offer?

Yes, depending on the project, ENGIE commits to a comprehensive program of landowner payments, shared benefits, and community investments.

What qualifies as a small business?

A small business customer as defined by the Australian Energy Regulator.

How will I receive the rebate?

The rebate will be paid in monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly instalments on electricity bills depending on State and meter type, apply to a selected ENGIE plan and appear as a credit.
