Corporate social responsibility

Committed to building a brighter future

Our Community Program

Our partnerships at ENGIE are a commitment to help create a brighter future for young people

Social procurement program

Our social procurement strategy is to engage local suppliers and social enterprises focusing on disadvantaged young people, people with disabilities and Indigenous suppliers.

Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan

Reconciliation Australia has approved ENGIE Australia & New Zealand’s second Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan.

The Innovate RAP is the second in the RAP Framework and is more ambitious in scope with a focus on employment, enhanced engagement across our projects, and piloting some new opportunities related to supply chain and involving our team members.
Since developing our first RAP in 2021, ENGIE has made significant progress.

This has included:

  • Proactively providing opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander suppliers through our procurement strategy and process.
  • Development of relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups at several of our development sites.
  • Demonstrating respect through the display of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags and artwork at many of our sites.
and including Acknowledgement of Country at all significant functions

“At ENGIE we generate power and develop renewable energy assets on lands traditionally owned by First Nations people. We welcome our role in continuing Australia’s reconciliation journey and look forward to expanding our understanding in this space while continuing to build upon our relationships with the community,” ENGIE ANZ Chief Executive Officer, Rik De Buyserie, said.

Our current partners

We care about future generations and support many inspiring initiatives that help young people and impact community resilience, education and the environment.

ENGIE & The Smith Family: Creating Better Futures Together

ENGIE is proud to partner with The Smith Family, Australia’s leading children’s education charity, dedicated to helping young Australians in need succeed at school and build brighter futures.

Through this partnership, we support programs that provide wrap-around assistance to students experiencing disadvantage, ensuring they can fully participate in their education. The Smith Family’s evidence-based Learning for Life program helps children fit in at school, keep up with their classmates, and thrive.

Our Impact
- Student Sponsorship: ENGIE currently sponsors 50 primary school students through the Learning for Life program, providing essential resources and support for their education.
- Cadetship to Career: We have proudly participated in this youth employment initiative, offering paid, flexible, multi-year cadetships to students on a Smith Family Tertiary Scholarship. These opportunities help young people gain real-world experience and transition successfully into the workforce.
- Work Inspiration: ENGIE funds and hosts the Work Inspiration program, a 2-day immersive program that focuses on career engagement activities. This program gives students in Years 9–11 the chance to explore the world of work, broaden their horizons, and develop confidence and aspirations. They get to visit corporate workplaces, meet the teams, and learn about future career pathways.

Together, we’re helping young Australians overcome barriers, achieve their goals, and create better futures for themselves and their communities.

Landcare Australia

ENGIE is collaborating with Landcare Australia to support local communities and environmental sustainability. This partnership focuses on providing grants for local environmental projects, enhancing biodiversity and offering education and training to staff.

The CEO sleepout

As a child, our CEO, Shannon Hyde, faced the risk of homelessness. Now each year, supported by ENGIE’s people, Shannon and ENGIE CEO Rik De Buyserie take part in Vinnies CEO Sleepout. Funds raised from this initiative help support Australians experiencing or at risk of homelessness, from feeding a family to keeping the power on over winter.

Modern Slavery Statement

At ENGIE, we are committed to respecting others and doing business responsibly and sustainably.
